# Install

> Install the Condense CLI on your machine, add it to your PATH, and check that it runs.

Install the Condense CLI on your machine.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Condense CLI is in beta.

## Install the CLI

**1. Run the install script**

```bash theme={null}
curl -fsSL https://condense-cli/install.sh | sh
```

The script downloads the binary for your computer's architecture and installs it to `~/.local/bin/condense`.

**2. Add the install folder to your PATH**

Make sure `~/.local/bin` is on your system `PATH`, so your terminal can find the `condense` command.

**3. Check that it runs**

```bash theme={null}
condense --help
```

## Install a specific version

Add `--version` and the version you want:

```bash theme={null}
curl -fsSL https://condense-cli/install.sh | sh -s -- --version v1.0.0
```

## If macOS blocks the first run

The CLI is not signed with an Apple Developer ID yet. The first time you run it, macOS Gatekeeper can stop it with a message such as "cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified", or "is damaged and can't be opened".

Clear the quarantine flag once after you install:

```bash theme={null}
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine ~/.local/bin/condense
```
