Every command acts on something: an environment, a workspace or a service. This page explains how the CLI knows which one, and how to name a different one for a single command.

What the CLI remembers

The CLI keeps these on your computer between commands:
  • Your sign-in session.
  • Your active environment.
  • Your active workspace.
They stay until you change them, or until you run condense auth logout, which clears them.

Override for one command

Most commands accept targeting flags. They override your active selection for that command only, and leave your selection as it was.
  • --workspace <name>: Acts on a workspace, by name.
  • --workspace-id <id>: Acts on a workspace, by its numeric ID.
  • --service <name>: Acts on a connector service, by name.
  • --service-id <id>: Acts on a connector service, by its ID.

Select an environment

condense environment use accepts the environment’s name, client ID or numeric ID:
  • condense environment use <env-name>
  • condense environment use --env <env-name>
  • condense environment use --env-id <client-id>
  • condense environment use --id <numeric-id>

Configuration files

Settings for a deploy or an edit come from a file:
To start from a template, download the configuration of a custom connector app with condense app download-config --app <app-name> --version <version>. See Deploy and move.
